Savannah unveils new public art project at Enmarket Arena in celebration of community

•The City of Savannah will unveil newly installed public art sculptures titled Of Communities and the Land and the Trees that Bear Witness to Them on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, from 10 a.m. to noon at Enmarket Arena.
• The sculptures were commissioned by local sculptor Jerome B. Meadows and honor the land and history of Savannah, specifically the legacy of African American communities in the Canal District on Savannah’s westside.
• The event will include a parade of neighbors with community representatives, an honoring of Indigenous Peoples, libations with Lillian Grant-Baptiste, community history by Dr. Amir Jamal Touré , art unveiling, a flower offering, children’s crafts, cultural entertainment, and more .
