Explore nearly 18 square miles with unbeatable views of Skidaway Island on a scenic hike in Georgia
If you’ve been to the Georgia coast, you are aware of how breathtaking the scenery and views are, especially in places such as Skidaway Island State Park. What you might not have realized about this gorgeous national park is that it has many hiking trails that you can enjoy all throughout the year. One of our top trails includes the Big Ferry Loop, which is 3.4-miles and offers stunning views.
Big Ferry Loop in Skidaway Island State Park is a scenic hiking trail that leads visitors through the most beautiful areas of the park.
For around 3.5 miles in total, visitors can walk the entire loop through the maritime forest as they pass by the drippy Spanish moss and along the lively waterways.
Take a stroll through some of the older trees through the salt marsh, as well as along the boardwalk that leads towards the tower of observation, which allows you to see for miles.
There are plenty of chances to see wildlife such as raccoons, deer, fiddler crabs, and egrets. There are places where placards showcase historical pieces that remain.
The park admission costs just $5 to park and visitors can enjoy the entire day roaming through the natural surroundings.
Big Ferry Loop is also recommended for children, because of the minor elevation change, yet it is mostly flat and has easy trails.
