Savannah is a city that is famous for many things: its green squares and historic architecture and its cobblestone riverfront among others. But did you realize Savannah is also a place for world-class concerts? The people who know are informed that Savannah Music Festival is one of the most popular events in Savannah. The festival has been performing live music in Savannah since 1989, and this year’s edition promises to be among the best to date.
In 2022, the Savannah Music Festival will take place between March 24 and April 9 and features the most exciting schedule of shows. The festival will include over 60 performances from performers you’d like to experience: Mavis Staples, Cedric Burnside, Blind Boys of Alabama, Drive-By Truckers, Bela Fleck, C.J. Chenier, Lunasa, Bruce Hornsby The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and The Wood Brothers are just some of the performers performing at various venues throughout the city during this year.
Other highlights are Voices of Mississippi, which will include William Ferris, Cedric Burnside, Sharde Thomas, and Luther & Cody Dickinson celebrating the stories and music of Mississippi. The event is also free and open to the public. Jazz on the River event featuring SMF Jazz Academy students that’s perfect for all the family. “This season’s lineup reinforces the Savannah Music Festival’s longstanding tradition of presenting unique artistic collaborations, rare regional appearances, and special projects designed to encourage exploration and bring joy to audiences and artists. We welcome music lovers from Savannah and all over the world to experience the annual confluence of emerging artists and masters, all within the city’s alluring and walkable Historic District, in March and April,” SMF Artistic Director Ryan McMaken revealed in the press release.
