The Huge Mailbox

Overlooking a cattle farm in Quacco Road is a gigantic mailbox measuring 16 feet, atop a 20-foot pole. The huge mailbox, which is with its black and white paint scheme, reminiscent of the cow is known for slowing traffic. Families often stop at the roadside to snap photos of the unique attraction. It was designed in the late 19th century by Charles Hubert Keller, former proprietor of Keller’s Flea Market. Keller created the mailbox as a complement to the market’s famous bovine mascot Kelly the Cow. However, according to Keller his wife, she was not keen for the well-known cow to be overshadowed. The alternative was to Keller put the mailbox on his farm and says the mailbox will be “expecting a large check from the government.” Keller has constructed a variety of bizarre designs that are on his property such as a sofa made out of a clawfoot bathtub along with a pirate ship, an oversized and comical couch that he rides during parades, as well as an actual six-person motorbike. Keller’s primary interest is racing. He is fascinated by building unusual automobiles, including an automobile straight from Mad Max that is covered with skulls, has an esoteric coffin inside, and fires massive blasts of flame from the two exhaust pipes that are vertically positioned.
Keller won’t likely ever receive that huge check he’s waited for, but perhaps one day it will be the case that he receives an enormous fan mail in exchange for his efforts to keep Savannah unusual.
