208 Wine Bar to hold Ribbon Cutting Ceremony July 27th

208 Wine Bar will hold a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Savannah’s newest wine bar Tuesday, July 27 at 5:00 p.m. at 208 E. Bay Street on Factor’s Walk.

“After falling in love with the space in such an amazing, historic building with a stunning view of the Savannah River, we dove head first into what would be an 8-month journey to get the doors of 208 Wine Bar open,” James Divine, Co-owner of 208 Wine Bar, said. “We often say that we ‘built the wine bar that we wanted to go to.’”

“Our menu reflects our passion for sharing and enjoying great wines. We love getting people out of their familiar habits by introducing them to blends and varieties that aren’t often found on grocery store shelves or restaurant menus,” Pirovits said.

Divine and co-owner Christina Pirovits aimed to preserve as much of the building’s history as possible. Built in 1859 by John Stoddard for his thriving cotton trade, the building has been home to commerce of various natures for over 160 years. Through their partnership with Re:Purpose Savannah, Divine and Pirovits used reclaimed wood that is 100% sustainably sourced – much of which is now center stage in the bar, including wood reclaimed from the Mercer Cottage on Moon River.

Along with the Ribbon Cutting, 208 Wine Bar will be launching their first Charity Vino, a special wine offering in which 50% of the proceeds will go to Team Savannah for Vets, the August charity of the month.  For more information and updates on 208 Wine Bar visit, www.208winebar.com
